At least one of Megadon's alternate skins uses a Godzilla-inspired color scheme, while another is inspired by Gamera, a less popular but still iconic film. Megadon's volcanic limb is similar to Rodan's monsterverse incarnation although he does not have wings, he isn't able to fly. However, he breathes fire instead of nuclear energy, making him have more in common with the Hanna-Barbera cartoon incarnation of Godzilla in the 1980's. Megadon is influenced by Godzilla, the king of the monsters himself. 7 Megadon Is A Reference To Godzilla and Other Reptilian Kaijuĭawn Of The Monsters, a kaiju-centric game, has a slew of references to other kaiju. Prime's other alternate skins serve as references to a variety of Kamen Rider, Mighty Morphin's Power Rangers, The Guyver, and even Toei's Spider-Man, both using similar colors. Ultraman isn't the only reference Aegis Prime makes to Henshin Heroes, the transformating heroes from a variety of tokusatsu series. This could be seen as a reference to the many Dark Ultras that have appeared throughout the Ultra series.
Eiji Murasame, the ultraman's creator and Godzilla co-creator, is named after Prime's alter ego, Eiji Tsubaraya, who has developed a Dark alternative skin. As a beat'em up title heavily inspired by kaiju-related media and the larger tokusatsu genre, Dawn Of The Monsters is jam-packed with references to other media, whether these references are through characters or enemies, backgrounds, lore, plot elements. The 2D sidescrolling beat'em up by 13 AM games, revolves around four fighting members of the Democratic National Committee fighting against kaiju known as Nephilim, as well as ensuring their elimination.
